Mineral Area College’s student movie club, MACFlix, is once again offering free movies this fall on the outdoor big-screen on the Park Hills campus quadrangle (the waterfall area).

 
MACFlix continues its 5th annual "Drive-In Nights" this Saturday evening, Oct. 1, with a free, outdoor, widescreen presentation of the comedy, “Crocodile Dundee,” at 7:35 p.m. and admission is free to everyone (just bring snacks and lawn chairs or lawn blankets). MACFlix presents all films in their original, large, widescreen format along with an outstanding sound system.
 
Dr. Kevin White, sponsor of MACFlix, said the movie was part of a popular “Aussie” wave during the 1980s.
 
The synopsis:
 
New York reporter Sue travels to Australia to meet and interview the legendary, Michael J. “Crocodile” Dundee, a man who runs a safari business and has just survived an attack by a crocodile.  After spending a few days touring the safari park and seeing his way of life, Sue invites him to come back with her to visit New York.  Since he has never been to any city before, he agrees bringing about a tremendous clash of cultures and different life styles for the Aussie bushman.  On top of that, he thinks he is falling in love with Sue.
 
The remaining MACFlix Classic Film Series includes “Trading Places” (rated R) on Friday, Oct. 7, 7:30 p.m.
 
White said the movies are digitally re-mastered and presented with an extremely, high-quality projector/sound system in a theatre environment. “The films shimmer beautifully on our specially-built widescreen, so the effect is like walking through a time machine and watching the movies in their very first weekend of release,” White said. “They're amazing to watch!”
